More than 20 residents at a senior-living complex where a deadly fire occurred have jointly filed a negligence lawsuit in Bexar County against the management company and its owners.
The plaintiffs are seeking at least $1 million in damages for medical care expenses and compensation. They say the Dec. 28 fire that killed at least five residents in their 70s and 80s was a direct result of deficiencies in maintenance, policies, procedures and/or the condition of the 11-story Wedgwood Senior Living apartments.
Messages seeking comment by the San Antonio News-Express were left with the management company and the company that owns the building.
A sixth resident died two days after the blaze, but officials haven’t said if the fire contributed to her death.
