Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John W. Oxendine said arrest warrants have been issued for four volunteer firefighters and three junior firefighters in Rabun County for allegedly setting a fire in Clayton.
They were accused of setting fire to an abandoned manufactured home last August. Oxendine said other charges may be filed later.
The four Clayton volunteer firefighters were identified as Kevin Watts, 19, two counts first-degree arson; David Mauck, 19, two counts first-degree arson; Melissa Edmonds, 28, one count first-degree arson and Ervin Edmonds, 40, one count first-degree arson.
Also charged were Anna Edmonds, 19, two counts first-degree arson and Charles Shaffer, 48, one count of making false statements.
Three juveniles who were in the junior firefighter program also were charged with first-degree arson.
