An Upshur County woman was sentenced to serve time in a West Virgina correctional facility after pleading guilty to worker’s compensation insurance fraud.
Stacie L. McLean, age 34 of Buckhannon, W. Va., pleaded guilty last week to providing false information to the former Workers’ Compensation Commission in an attempt to obtain prescription medication.
McLean was indicted in September 2006 on three felony counts of making a false worker’s compensation insurance claim and three felony counts of health care fraud. She pleaded guilty June 7 to one count of workers’ compensation insurance fraud and was sentenced to one year in a state correctional facility.
Investigation in this case has been a joint effort between the Upshur County Prosecutor’s Office and the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner’s Fraud Unit.
