Authorities say they arrested a man who was trying to steal liquor through the roof of an Augusta, Ga., liquor store.
Richmond County Sheriff’s Lt. Robbie Silas told The Augusta Chronicle that Deputy Wade Smith was conducting a routine patrol early Sunday when he noticed a man inside Mr. J’s Liquor Store.
He called for backup and the officers surrounded the business and arrested 33-year-old Bobby Jackson. They say he attempted to flee by throwing bottles at the officer but that no one was hurt.
Police say Jackson had cut a hole in the roof of the store, causing at least $2,000 in damage. Authorities found several bags of bottles on top of the roof, which were recovered after Richmond County fire officials brought a ladder.
