Ocean Spring, Miss., officials have voted to buy flood insurance for city-owned properties from the National Flood Insurance Program.
The Sun Herald reports the city is insured for other hazards, but the policy does not include flood coverage.
Alderman Bobby Cox moved Tuesday to suspend the automatic 3 percent pay raise the board and mayor were scheduled to receive July 1.
He said he didn’t think the board should accept a raise when city employees had not received a raise.
The board approved the motion, although Mayor Connie Moran said she passed on her pay raise individually two years ago without requiring the rest of the board to do the same.
