An Alabama fire department now has oxygen masks designed to revive pets after fires.
Northport Fire Rescue will distribute the pet oxygen masks among fire stations in the town this week.
WBRC-TV reports that the group “Invisible Fences” donated the masks to the department last week.
Northport Fire Capt. Jason Norris said many people consider their pets their children. He said if the animals are important to people, then they are important to the fire department.
Masks for humans could be used on pets in a pinch. But Northport’s new masks are designed specifically for cats or dogs and are shaped to fit the contours of an animal’s face.
