A developer in southwest Florida is reviewing its safety protocols for staff and subcontractors after a roofer was fatally struck by lightning.
The Sarasota County Fire Department says the 39-year-old man died Wednesday after being struck by lightning while working on the roof of a Sarasota home.
The fire department says the man went into cardiac arrest and was hospitalized, but attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.
The vice president of sales and marketing for developer Taylor Morrison’s west Florida division tells the Sarasota Herald-Tribune that the man was a member of the framing crew.
Cammie Longenecker says the company “will be cooperating with all parties involved to understand and offer assistance.”
