After being hard hit by major flooding in April, the Panhandle town of Gulf Breeze is working to reduce its flood risks.
The Pensacola News Journal reports that the city is moving forward with many ideas suggested by a taskforce created after major flooding throughout the area in late April.
The city has contracted with engineer firms for one project designed to eliminate the need for pumping stations at a local high school and another project to improve drainage at a medical center.
These projects are just two on a list of 25 short-term and immediate actions the task force recommended.
Heavy rains caused damaged throughout the city and left some neighborhood streets under water.
