Authorities say a 37-year-old Long Beach, Miss., man arrested on two felony charges cut a chain-link fence to gain access twice to a condominium construction site, where he’s accused in the theft and attempted theft of a total of $5,000 in steel beams.
Harrison County Sheriff Melvin Brisolara tells The Sun Herald Freddy Lester Hardin was picked up by Pass Christian police officers on Friday a couple of blocks away from the crime scene. Brisolara says Hardin has been charged with one charge each of attempted grand larceny and grand larceny.
After his arrest, Hardin was taken to the Harrison County jail, where his bond was set at $20,000.
It was unclear whether Hardin has an attorney.
