A state task force formed to propose regulations for drones has decided it needs more time for study.
Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley created the Alabama Drone Task Force last year to address issues related to unmanned aerial systems, commonly called drones. The task force was supposed to make recommendations to the governor by Jan. 15. Its letter to the governor included a recommendation that the state Transportation Department be designated as the lead agency on drones and that the task force remain together to continue studying the issue.
McMillan told the Montgomery Advertiser that a delay in Federal Aviation Administration regulations and the complexity of the issue made it difficult to develop other recommendations.
