Intracorp has gone “on location” in California and throughout the country to assist insurance companies and third-party administrators (TPAs) in meeting employer expectations in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
At a client’s request, Intracorp will send nurse consultants to work onsite within a client’s claim team to provide expert clinical opinions on how best to intervene and resolve the most difficult claims. Intracorp consults on workers’ compensation as well as short- and long-term disability claims.
Intracorp’s technology enables its onsite consultants web-based
access to its proprietary Optimal Treatment Guidelines as well as to a team of more than 40 physician advisors and a national network of more than 1,000 field-based case managers for claims that could reportedly benefit from more direct intervention.
“With Intracorp’s consulting services, even claim organizations that
retain internal clinical staff are purchasing supplemental support from
specialists supplied by Intracorp to strengthen their program without
increasing their infrastructure,” explained Ken Ross, president of Intracorp.
At times, it is reportedly the employer who encourages the partnership between the claim payer and Intracorp. Catholic Healthcare West is one employer that has turned to Intracorp for onsite clinical consultation within its TPA program.
“Intracorp and Catholic Healthcare West have partnered to build creative solutions to the recent legislative changes in California workers’ compensation. We have initiated the first of several pilots within our current service model to streamline the communication process in complying with the new utilization review guidelines for workers’ comp medical treatment,” according to Barbara Pelletreau, director of workers’ compensation for Catholic HealthCare West.
Ross said Intracorp’s onsite clinical consultation services are
particularly well suited for companies who administer claims in California as they wrestle with their state’s new workers’ comp law and require immediate access to resources who can help them.
Intracorp nurses work right within the claim team and consult on the
clinical aspects of each complex claim as well as provide utilization review when appropriate. “The combination of supportive California regulations, proven tools and the experience of our review nurses and physicians delivers a solid 9:1 return on investment to Intracorp customers,” added Ross.
Clinical consulting services are scaleable to the company and its needs. Intracorp has placed as few as one consulting specialist working on a part-time basis at a single location and as many as a team of full-time professionals working at multiple locations distributed nationally.
