An Idaho baking company is recalling batches of peanut butter cookies and peanut butter bars due to potential for salmonella contamination.
Evening Rise Bread Co., based in McCall, issued the recall Monday, Jan. 19.
Company officials say the cookies and bars were made with peanut butter recalled nationally last week by Peanut Corp. of America over concerns it may be tainted with salmonella. The national salmonella outbreak is being blamed for killing at least six people and sickening more than 470 others in 43 states.
The cookies and bars were distributed in coffee shops and stores under the Evening Rise label in McCall and New Meadows.
Health officials say there are no reports of illness related to the cookies and bars.
State public health officials say salmonella may have been a contributing factor in the death earlier this month of an eastern Idaho man who was over the age of 65.
The list of retailers involved in the Evening Rise recall includes: Roadhouse Java in New Meadows; Mountain Java Coffee Shop, McCall; Common Ground Coffee Shop, McCall; Moxy Java Coffee Shop, McCall; and the First Idaho Bank branch in McCall.
