A Red Rock man who allegedly posed as an attorney in an insurance scam has been indicted by an Arizona grand jury for fraud, theft and forgery.
The Arizona Attorney General’s Office announced Friday that 41-year-old Victor Paul Vasquez will be arraigned Jan. 26.
Prosecutors say Vasquez allegedly negotiated last September with State Farm Insurance Company on behalf of a woman involved in a car accident.
To settle the claim, State Farm issued a $12,500 check to Vasquez in his client’s name.
Authorities say Vasquez cashed the check, but the woman didn’t receive any of the money and she has $8,000 in unpaid medical bills.
Vasquez was issued a cease and desist order to stop posing as an attorney in 2008. It was unclear Friday whether he has an attorney.
