Several properties in Salcha and South Fairbanks, Alaska, have been added to new federal flood risk maps for the Fairbanks North Star Borough.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says the maps are used to determine flood risk and insurance eligibility.
The maps will be presented to the public in Salcha Sept. 25 and in Fairbanks Sept. 26.
Representatives of state agencies and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will be at both meetings.
The new maps are expected to become effective in January 2014 following public comment and appeals periods.
