State transportation officials say more than 800 people died on Arizona roadways last year.
Arizona Department of Transportation statistics released Friday show there were 844 fatal crashes in 2013, up from 821 in 2012 or 2.8 percent.
The number of vehicle collisions statewide climbed 3.3 percent last year, to more than 107,000 from about 104,000 in 2012.
Arizona was a more dangerous place for bicyclists and pedestrians as well last year, with fatalities on the rise in both categories.
ADOT reports there were 158 pedestrian deaths in vehicle collisions in 2013 and 30 bicyclists were killed.
Statistics show that one in 10 pedestrian/vehicle collisions resulted in a fatality.
Alcohol-related fatalities dropped 7 percent to 262 deaths in 2013 compared to 283 people the year before.
