An Emmy award-winning television news anchor has resigned from a Sacramento station over allegations that she conspired with her fiance to shoplift $2,500 worth of Coach wallets from a mall.
Sabrina Rodriguez said Tuesday she was stepping down from KTXL-TV to “focus on my case and reestablish my good name.”
Rodriguez turned herself into police last week. A warrant alleges that Rodriguez helped her fiance, 30-year-old Nicholas Gray, steal the wallets from an outlet store in Folsom last year.
Her lawyer has denied the charges.
Gray has been jailed on separate charges that he burned down their south Sacramento home in May while manufacturing hash oil from marijuana.
The Sacramento Bee says the 31-year-old Rodriguez has worked at Fox 40 News since 2011 and was promoted to early morning anchor last year.
