A panel making safety recommendations from the Oso, Wash., mudslide is close to completing a final draft for Gov. Jay Inslee.
The Joint SR 530 Landslide Commission holds its final meeting Tuesday to finalize the report going to the governor and Snohomish County Executive John Lovick.
The Daily Herald reports the report will make recommendations in two general areas: the emergency response to the slide and land use practices that may keep people out of the path of future slides.
The March 22 slide killed 43 people when it covered a housing development along the North Fork Stillaguamish River between Arlington and Darrington.
