San Diego, CA, 07/11/2012 – Arrowhead General Insurance Agency, Inc., one of the country’s largest property and casualty insurance program managers, announced the appointments of Joseph Shomphe to the new chief technology officer position and Adam Nordost to the role of chief information officer. Both veterans of Arrowhead’s technology team, chief technology officer Shomphe will focus his efforts on developing technologies that will support and expand corporate infrastructure and Nordost’s key role as chief information officer will be the implementation of technology systems to improve operational efficiency and information availability to Arrowhead’s carriers and producers. Nordost assumed his role from Dick Hoye, who will continue with Arrowhead as its vice president of data management. Nordost and Shomphe assumed their roles effective July 1 and are reporting to Arrowhead’s president and chief operating officer, Mac Armstrong.
Nordost joined Arrowhead in 2002 as a business systems analyst and then expanded into additional roles such as director of commercial technology services and vice president of information systems. During the past 10 years he has led the implementation of policy administration and billing systems for six Arrowhead divisions and 15 lines of business while helping restructure the information systems team to better align with Arrowhead’s business divisions. “I really do see this role as an expansion of the tasks I’ve been progressively working on with our business units and by extension our producers and carriers,” said Nordost. “I’m excited for the opportunity to help set our development initiatives in the upcoming years, especially as we take on additional programs from acquisitions and organic growth. As the demands for our online systems increase, I’m here to ensure our technology projects are completed quickly and accurately.”
Shomphe joined Arrowhead in 2008 as a software architect and during the past four years he has worked closely with Arrowhead’s technology and executive teams to ensure the Company and its subsidiary, American Claims Management, Inc., receive the highest technical solutions for independent agents, carriers and policyholders. As chief technology officer, Shomphe now has responsibility for defining the overall technical strategies for Arrowhead’s core application architecture and information technology infrastructure as well as internal and external customer support. “I’ve been leading our shared services group for the past three years, which includes IT and IS infrastructure from the physical storage and servers all the way up to the application code used to communicate with Arrowhead’s partners,” Shomphe said. “I am looking forward to working even closer with Arrowhead’s wonderful technical and business teams as we continue to push even more services online.”
“Adam and Joe possess a unique combination of technological expertise and business acumen that has allowed them to rise up through the ranks of our organization. They have played an essential role in not only articulating our technology strategy but our overall corporate strategy and direction,” said Armstrong. “As we continue to launch and acquire programs that need to be integrated into Arrowhead’s systems and infrastructure, our need for superior and scalable technology solutions is paramount. I can think of no better combination than Joe and Adam to help execute Arrowhead’s technological and operational strategy.”
