FEMA Tours Flood-Damaged Delaware Coast Area

May 30, 2008

Representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency are touring the Delaware coast to evaluate damage from recent flooding.

There is no timetable for a possible disaster designation. According to representatives of Delaware’s Emergency Management Agency, 100 homes would have had to be severely damaged statewide for the state to qualify for federal disaster aid.

Bowers Beach resident Michael Speziale was one of about 40 residents who met with state officials Wednesday to discuss possible relief. Speziale says his car was ruined by the flood and he still has piles of debris on his porch. He says his insurance is not going to cover many of his damaged items.
