A Johnstown, Pennsylvania woman will spend 63 months in prison for setting her live-in boyfriend’s pool shop on fire.
Forty-year-old Terri Beth Kerr had lived with Don Miller Jr. since 1994. Prosecutors argue she started the fire for the insurance money. She planned to use the $55,000 to pay a settlement to Miller’s former wife, finalizing their divorce.
The December 2002 fire at Millers Pools and Skis near Johnstown caused $1 million in damage and sent about two dozen firefighters to the hospital with breathing problems linked to the chlorine in the store.
Kerr also has to pay more than $415,000 in restitution.
