One worker is dead and another suffered serious injuries after a truck carrying a bucket lift toppled and crashed into a building in Boston’s Downtown Crossing.
A Suffolk University spokeswoman says none of the students in the 10 West Street Residence Hall were injured when the crane crashed into a building across the street Saturday morning.
WHDH-TV reports that James Williamson later died from his wounds and Greg Johnson suffered serious injuries.
Boston Police spokesman Eddie Chrispin says one of the men was expected to survive. The men were inspecting a building when the crane collapsed.
District Fire Chief Ron Harrington says the crane was fully extended and the two men were in the bucket when the driver attempted to move it, causing it to collapse.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
