Authorities say two women smoking outside a Syracuse building late Monday night had to be rescued by firefighters after the fire escape they were sitting on gave way.
Fire officials say the woman were sitting on a platform when lag bolts at the top broke off from the brick building, causing the fire escape to tip across an alley and come to rest on the building next door.
Firefighters put harnesses on the women and pulled them through a door, back into the building.
Officials say neither woman was injured.
