Fire Breaks Out at D.C.’s Ronald Reagan Building

Authorities expect to reopen the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in downtown Washington after a fire at a restaurant in the building’s food court.

D.C. fire department spokesman Pete Piringer says there was moderate damage to the building Tuesday. The fire started in the kitchen of the Cajun Grill on the concourse level of the federal building. It traveled through some of the duct work.

Piringer says firefighters had to open up some of the walls to check for hot spots.

Streets around 14th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue were closed for several hours due to the fire. Streets had reopened by 9:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
