The owner of a former northwestern Pennsylvania furniture plant destroyed in a fire last year says volunteer firefighters who fought the blaze didn’t try hard enough.
The Erie Times-News reports Carl Boone is suing the borough of Union City and its volunteer fire department over the response to the fire at a former Ethan Allen furniture plant gutted by fire in December.
The suit filed Friday says firefighters did not “act with a sense of urgency” in responding to the fire.
Officials said after the blaze firefighters had to be pulled out of the building because of the fire’s intensity.
The Times-News report says Boone’s suit claims firefighters failed to use the building’s fire-suppression system.
Fire Chief Robert Wolf declined to comment on the suit.
