A prosecutor says a preliminary test indicates that a woman who drove her car straight through a Long Island, N.Y., house was highly intoxicated.
Police arrested 21-year-old Sophia Anderson of Brooklyn following the crash early Monday in Huntington. She is charged with DWI.
Anderson suffered scrapes and bruises as the vehicle hurtled through the home, ending up in the backyard.
An unidentified passenger was uninjured. Also unharmed were two sisters in their 90s who live in the house. Earlier reports had said one of the women was a caretaker.
Anderson pleaded not guilty Tuesday. Bail was set at $50,000.
According to a prosecutor, the preliminary field test indicated a blood-alcohol reading of 0.30. The legal limit for driving in New York is 0.08.
Anderson’s attorney questioned the validity of the test.
