A suburban St. Louis, Mo., man faces up to 20 years in federal prison now that he’s pleaded guilty to defrauding his former employer of $342,000.
Thirty-seven-year-old Eric Engle of St. Charles entered the plea Tuesday to a count of felony wire fraud.
Federal prosecutors say Engle worked from 2007 to last September at LabCorp Inc., a business that provides services for people having blood samples analyzed. Engle’s duties included collecting money for services and paying expenses.
The indictment alleged that Engle created a fictitious cleaning service company with LabCorp as a client, and created fraudulent invoices for services never rendered.
Engle also faces up to a $1 million fine. Sentencing is set for June 1.
