Louisiana Department of Insurance Fraud Unit investigators served a cease and desist and summary suspension order to Vimmi Inabnet Clarius of Pineville, prohibiting her from conducting any kind of insurance business in Louisiana, according to acting Insurance Commissioner J. Robert Wooley.
Evidence presented to the Department of Insurance shows that Clarius allegedly misappropriated premium payments and issued bogus proofs of insurance statements to a number of individuals during the time she was a partner in the Blaisdell Clarius Insurance Agency in Alexandria. On several occasions, Clarius reportedly collected payments for insurance and pocketed the money while issuing a written statement saying there was insurance coverage with the designated insurance company.
LDI records show that Clarius has held a Property and Casualty insurance license with the Department of Insurance since 1993.
The charges that prompted the suspension stem from the time Clarius was at the Blaisdell Clarius Insurance Agency. In November of last year, the department issued C&D and summary suspension orders against Melisa Lynne Blaisdell and the Blaisdell Clarius insurance agency.
Consumers who have purchased insurance or conducted other insurance business with Vimmi Inabnet Clarius should contact their insurance company or companies right away to learn the status of their insurance, Wooley said.
If they have trouble contacting the company or find they have paid out money that the insurance company or companies did not receive, they should call the Department of Insurance, (800) 259-5300 as soon as possible. Upon request, communication with the Department of Insurance Fraud Unit may be kept confidential.
