Sand Springs, Okla., fire officials say design flaws in a mobile home contributed to the death of a couple in a fire.
The bodies of 49-year-old Steve Jastrzemski and 47-year-old Rosetta Albright-Jastrzemski were found in a bathroom of the home where they tried to escape through a window.
But Deputy Fire Chief Tom Jenkins says the window was a non-standard size of about 1-foot-wide by 3-feet-tall.
Rosetta Albright-Jastrzemski had escaped the burning home with her daughter and 11-year-old grandson but went back inside to rescue her 3-year-old granddaughter.
She was able to push the girl through the bathroom window to her mother.
Jenkins says a preliminary investigation indicates the fire was electrical but the exact cause hasn’t been determined.
