East Baton Rouge Parish deputies have arrested three people who allegedly broke into and ransacked two Baton Rouge, La., schools.
Sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in an email to The Advocate the trio broke into LaBelle Aire Elementary School through a classroom window at about 4:20 a.m. Sunday, tripping the alarm and alerting authorities.
While deputies were en route, Hicks says school security personnel were watching surveillance video at neighboring Belaire High School that showed the three had broken into that school.
Two of the suspects, 19-year-old DeAnthony Lathan and a 12-year-old boy, surrendered before deputies unleashed police dogs into the school.
Hicks says deputies found the third person, a 17-year-old, on the roof.
She says the suspects were booked with simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property.
