The Mayor of Brookhaven, Miss. may consider allowing residents to take their golf carts out for a spin on residential streets.
Mayor Bob Massengill said city officials will study ordinances on golf carts elsewhere in the state.
Alderwoman Shirley Estes said some people had spoken to her about driving carts in residential areas, where they’re being ticketed for having the vehicles on the road.
Alderman D.W. Maxwell said he believes some other cities allow golf carts on residential streets as long as they are properly equipped with blinkers and are operated by licensed drivers.
