The mother of a teenager killed when he was run over by an Amphitheater Public Schools bus last month filed a $15 million claim against the school district.
The claim, if denied or not acted upon, is a precursor to a lawsuit.
The attorney for Graciela Barajas wrote in the claim that 15-year-old Kevin Barajas-Robinson’s death was caused by negligence of the bus driver and by the school district.
The sophomore at Tucson High Magnet School was bicycling to school on Sept. 12 when he was hit by the bus and run over, police said.
An investigation into the fatal collision was reviewed by Tucson City Prosecutor Laura Brynwood, who determined that the bus driver had not done anything to merit a traffic citation or any more serious charge.
There was no immediate comment from Amphitheater Public Schools officials on the claim.
