Fire officials at South Lake Tahoe, Calif., are investigating the cause of a blaze that did more than $2 million damage to a two-story hotel on Ski Run Boulevard and sent two people to the hospital.
South Lake Tahoe Fire Chief Jeff Meston told Lake Tahoe News the two injured jumped from the second-story balcony after the fire broke out about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday at the Deerfield Lodge west of the casino district.
They were taken to Barton Memorial Hospital where their condition was unknown.
Meston says all six rooms in the back building were destroyed along with six vehicles.
Firefighters had the blaze under control by 2:35 a.m. Meston says crews kept the flames from spreading to the front of the hotel.
Thirty-five hotel guests were transported to the Lakeside Inn for the night.
